Audio absent during capture

I'm just learning to use Windows Movie Maker, which came already loaded on my new Dell Dimension 8300, running Windows XP. I'm using a Pinnacle LINX-2 capture device from my analog super 8 video camera to my computer. During the capture process, in Movie Maker, the video previews fine but I don't get any audio. However, when I play back the captured clip, the audio is there. Any suggestions as to why the audio can't be heard during the capture?

No audio during capture is normal. I think it's just because the process of capturing is such a burden on your computer that the audio isn't included as you see the playback on screen.
