Kelly has directions for using both REG and VBS files at the very top of
her Tweaks page.
Thanks Sharon...
I will certasinly keep that in mind ... because I sill
be an XP "newbie" with questions .. for a while.
( I will "FAV" .. Kelly site for future reference).
But for right now ... ( WHEW ) ...
my IE home-page is no longer LOCKED !!!
I tried 3 things I hadn't already tried in this mess.
And I think I know which* ONE * of them has
* UNLOCKED * my IE browser-home page.
But I'll relate all 3 in order of occurance..
( as follows ):.
{ 1 )
I tried switching my designated browser start up
page from Google.com to eBay.com.
( 2 )
I switched from Jack Daniel's to Jose' Quervo.
( 3 )
I switched my old IE icon.. to a "fresh" IE icon.
And * FINALLY * no more "home-page-lock".
So if you get another XP "newbie" with this same
browser homet-page-lock.. one of these 3 switches
may help. My specific reasons for witches 1 & 2..
would a bit off topic... but I will explain switch 3.
(as follows ):..
I noticed that when I clicked the "home" button
on the browser tool bar.. it went to my designated
home-page.
But the the quick-launch IE icon down on the
task bar still got the SPY-ware designated page.
( Hmmm !!! ) Checking the icon's properties...
( Hmmm !!! ) The Icon's "comment" window...
( Hmmm !!! ) There was an ID-name (alias)..
apparenty a registry link to the SPYware page.
Being an XP "newbie" I had not notice such
"comments" in short-cut icons. Win-98SE
has no comment... with user-edit access.
Sooo.. I just created a new short-cut icon..
which does not *lock* the IE start-page to
some enigmatic link to the registry.
No more *locked* browser home-page !!!
Good night all. I've had a BAD week-end.
