Attempts to format G: hard drive partition fail

I am really glad that the information I supplied helped. I knew that the
chart didn't match up to the model you specified earlier (your model IIRC is
an even older Maxtor drive than the chart showed.) Was hoping that this was
the issue and knew that the chart would give you some information on how to
disable the CLJ.
 
when I got there, F: was identified as NTFS and "healthy" but G had no File
System type shown, although it was also called "healthy."

FYI an MS OS app saying a drive is "healty" has no real meaning
whatsoever.
