Attempting to change the same data at the same time

When I try to open my db it gets that "attempting" message and will not let
me open the db. There is no lock .ldb file around. Does anyone know how I can
fix the db? The exact message is:

The microsoft jet database engine stopped the process because you and
another userare attempting to change the same data at the same time.

Are you attempting to open it from a read-only directory, such as
from a CD?
