Attempted System Restore and restart now yields blank screen

I attempted a System Restore and when it restarted all I get now is a blank
blue screen with a mouse I can move.. I tried all the Safe Mode, Last Known,
etc. any ideas? This is what frustrates me with Microsoft products.

The system restore was because my parents (hoem for Turkey Day!) lost the
Autoplay function when a compact flash card with pictures was inserted. I
restored to fix the auto play of the photo wizard. One little problem spawns
a HUGE one!

I appreciate any help!

There was more wrong with your parents' system than a broken autoplay.
Now there is a lot more wrong. Back up their data and try a Repair
Install *IF* you are sure the system is 100% spyware and virus-free.
