In order to relocate my files while i format/reloaded
windows XP onto my computer, i intend to hook up my old
hardrive to my new computer and store them on there...

could someone please give me a helping hand?

i am not sure how to do this...

i tried simply attatching it via the two cabels (the grey
one with many wires covered in plastic and the red/yellow
one with four wires) but it failed to load...

Any ideas?

cheers

Macca

You must ensure that the jumper at the rear of the drive is set in the
correct position if you are attaching it to the same cable as another
drive... exactly what the position should be depends on the jumper position
of the first drive. If the first drive is set to master, then the new drive
should be set to slave. If the first drive is set to CS (cable select) then
the second drive should also be set to CS and use the middle connector of
the ribbon cable.

Once connected and correctly seen in the BIOS, boot into Windows, right
click on My Computer and select Manage. On the following screen, select
Disk Management. The drive should now be seen on the right hand side of the
screen from where you can assign it a drive letter. Now it will be visible
in Windows Explorer.
