attachments

What happens when you try? Any error message?

Make sure attachments are enabled:
Tools, Options, Security, uncheck "Do not allow attachments..."

Do you mean the "Do not allow attachments that could contain a virus"? Is
that the one I uncheck?
 
Yes. Don't worry, your antivirus program should catch any viruses.
