attachments

I can not open an attachment in my email. It is a document.It says "document
name or path is not valid" What does this mean? I saved the attachment but
can not get it to open any way I try. I do have Microsoft Word installed and
it goes to that program and a window starts to open and then the warning
comes with the message quoted above.Thanks jc1

Does it have a .doc extension? Extension used for MS Word documents.
Have you tried opening it with Notepad?
Right click on the file.
Click "Open with" in the popup menu.
Uncheck the box "Always use this....".
Scroll to Notepad and double click it to open the file.
