I sometimes get an email with an attachment that looks
like this: xxxxxxxx.email I can find no way to open an
attachment with this extension. Does anybody know what is
going on?

Save it to your desktop or some handy place and rename it to xxxx.eml and
see if that works. Please do scan with a virus checker and makes sure that
is the last and only extension though....

If that works you can establish whether it's a genuine email or not (I think
some CompuServe mail clients use it) and you can decide whether to set up a
permanent filetype for it.

When you have the file saved and have decided what to do, rename it back to
xxx.email right click on it and choose "Open With". A list box will pop up
but won't show OE so you will have to use the "Other" button on most
systems, not sure if it shows on XP or not.

You then need to find where your OE executable is located so search for
MSIMN.EXE and when you find it navigate to it and use that in the "Other"
list box. Apply or Okay back to the original list and check the little box
marked "Always use this to open .email files" or whatever. That "Should"
work, however whenever dealing with forwarded messages be careful.
