attachments turning to dat files

Help! all of my attachements to outlook emails are
received as dat files and are unreadable. Does anyone
have a solution for this?
 
Change your message format from Rich Text to HTML or Plain Text.
You can do this in Tools-> Options-> tab Mail Format

Change your message format to Plain Text or HTML.
