Why is it that in Outlook 2003 that when you are using Rich Text that
attachments are embedded in the text and don't have a separate area.

Every time I send an attachment, I have to use plain text because others
have trouble with the way the attachments are in Rich Text.

Rich-Text Format (RTF) is proprietary to Microsoft. Well, that means
non-Microsoft clients very probably won't understand that format. Inserting
embedded or inline attachment at a particular insert point within the body
of the message is how RTF works. RTF should only be used between senders
and recipients where both are guaranteed to use Outlook and be within the
same Exchange organization.

Use plain-text or HTML format for your e-mails. HTML should not be use by
default if your content does not require any special formatting or features
available in HTML. HTML also doubles the size of your message because there
is the HTML part and also a plain-text part (to handle those recipients that
use e-mail clients that don't support HTML). Send in plain-text if by
default, in HTML if required.
