attachments in outlook express

Since getting our new PC with XP, Outlook Express 6.0 has always asked for
which program to use when viewing attachments. I inadvertently changed all
..doc files default to Wordpad rather than Word and am having trouble changing
it back. Have tried the Control Panel, Folder Options, File type, but altho
changed .doc to Word all my .doc files that I try to use as attachments still
are denoted as Word Pad. Any suggestions.

In Windows Explorer, right-click on a doc file, choose "open with", choose
Word and check the box at the bottom "always use the selected program to
open this kind of file". See if that helps
