Attachments in Outlook 2007 Beta 2

Whenever I try to insert a Word 2007 Beta 2 document (which may itself have
been created with Word 2003) as an attachment in an e-mail being sent with
Outlook 2007, it attaches it as a "docx" file, which the recipient cannot
open without running Winzip or some other unzipping program. Is there a way
to make Outlook 2007 attach the file as a simple doc file?

Save the Word document as a .doc file, then insert the saved file into the message. Alternatively, use the Word Options dialog to change the default save format from docx to doc.

Thanks very much. Isn't it going to cause problems with e-mail when we start
using the final release of Outlook 2007 and want to take advantage of the
docx space saving characteristics inWord 2007 ? It sounds like we will
either have to tell all our e-mail recipients they will need to unzip
attachments or take the time to change the suffix on all attachments before
sending the e-mail.

Thanks again for the advice

Unzipping a docx file will not allow your recipients to open the file in
a Word version prior to 2007 without the converters Sue pointed out.
Docx is not just simply a zipped doc file, but a totally different file
format and the contents within the docx zip container are XML files that
are barely readable by a human.

What's the purpose of quoting someone else's message without adding anything
of your own?

Mr. Loomis's problem is that he doesn't realize that the default format of
Word 2007 is different than that of Word 2003 and earlier and that he must
save hos documents in the prior format if he expects anyone without Word 2007
to be able to read them. No unzipping program will help, either. It's not a
zipped file.
