Attachments do not open

Hi.

I have the following situation.
A user archives her emails as .msg files in the filesystem. She
reported that she cannot open the attachments inside these msg files.
She demonstrated a .doc file that wouldnt open no matter how many
double clicks were made. The file was shown its preview though.

No Google app is installed on the computer...

Any ideas what may be wrong?

Are you able to reproduce the problem on a similar machine?
