Attached graphics showing in message window

I want to send graphic files as attachments, however I do
not want them to show in the body of the message window.
How do I stop this from happening? I have unticked all
the "send pciture with message" options.
 
Are the actual pictures showing in the message body, or just file icons?
What procedure are you using to attach the images?
