ATI X1600 Pro Problem

Hey all,

I currently have Vista Beta 2 Build 5384 x32 installed, with an X1600 Pro
512MB AGP card. I can boot into Windows Vista normally but only under the old
XP drivers. Thus there is no Aero support. Whenever I install the Vista Beta
2 ATI drivers, they dont work giving me a blue screen error after boot up. I
tried uninstalling drivers and running the Vista default drivers but they
couldnt find them. What can I do to get Aero working. It is an Aero supported
card for sure.

hi Etaf,
i have the same card, and although i don't get a blue screen in Vista, i
have no aero.
a lot of users of this card are reporting a Code 43 error in the device
manager for the display adapter. i get this for both the ATI catalyst
driver and the microsoft WDDM driver.
i know some users have got it working nicely in vista, so it could be down
to motherboard compatibility or bios settings, although to my knowledge i
have tried all the bios variations that are relevant. AGP Aperture size,
AGP Frame Buffer size etc.
mine is the 256Mb version.

anyone else have suggestions for what to try? other than just waiting for
the next major version..

Hello.

I have exactly the same card as yours, namely, Ati x1600 Pro 512 MB AGP 8x
from Sapphire. I could not make Ati Catalyst drivers work, but MS drivers
that come with RC1 release work properly with Aero enabled.

Please be advised.

Regards
