ATI Video Capture Cards

Can someone tell me the basic difference between ATI's TV Wonder Pro
video capture card and the less expensive TV Wonder VE card? I recently
replaced an older All-In-Wonder card with a Radeon 9200 128Mb card but
want to get the video capture/TV tuner features back. I want to be able
to hook up to a VCR and my video camera, as well as the cable TV. I
don't need bells and whistles, and actually, the price difference isn't
even so much a concern as availability in my area.Thanks.

The VE edition does not have an S-Video input and it only creates mono
audio when being used with the Coax input.

1) If you need to use the Coax connection for input and stereo is a
must, go for the TV Wonder.

2) If you plan to use a Composite input (RCA), it doesn't matter which
card you use because you can plug the audio directly in to the sound
card for stereo.

3) If you need to use S-Video as an input, you have to get the TV
Wonder.

In all honesty, I would avoid the TV Wonder cards. Their drivers are a
little picky (unless you use reference drivers) and the quality is
really not all that great. I would recommend going with one of the
newer 880/881 chipset cards. The MSI TV @nywhere cards have really
sharp picture quality and it's in the same price range.

If you want some more research info, go to http://www.vcdhelp.com . I
think it is hands down the best do-it-yourself video capture, edit and
production site on the web. Not to mention, they have tons of user
reviews and extremely active forums for questions (just be sure to
search for an answer before posting a question).

Good Luck,

BG
