Atheros Wireless Connection

this may be a very very simple question but i am not very computer literate.

I would like to connect my desktop pc (which currently has a internet
connection) to my 'wireless' laptop. Ive seen that my Toshiba p10 laptop has
a Atheros Network slot, so does this mean all i have to purchase is a router
for the desktop pc? will the atheros card recieve the signal without having
to purchase a network card?

What is a Atheros Network Slot?

Do you have built in Wireless in your laptop or are you saying you have a
PCMCIA slot available to insert a wireless PCMCIA card?
