I dont know what this means

Saturday, August 20, 2005 atapi The device, \Device\Ide\IdePort1, did
not respond within the timeout period

what does this mean and how do i fix it?

i found the error on ADVANCED SYSTEM INFORMATION - ERROR LOG

It means the IDE controller1 was sent a command and that it
did not respond within the time Windows allocates for it to perform
the instruction. This isn't the endpoint device on the controller (Disk
or CD..) but the controller itself. You probably need to check in
Device Manager under IDE/ATAPI controllers and see how your
devices are identified and that both the Primary and Secondary
channels are properly configured. (Mode and Device detection).

I had this with a crappy SCSI controller from SIIG. It also pointed
to the Sony DAT Drive. Just for the record, SIIG cards suck. I tried
to adjust the transfer rate in the bois for the DAT drive, and SIIG
told me it can't be done with their cards. This is a basic setup
option found in almost any SCSI card's bios setting. I switched to an
adaptec card, and never had the problem again.

More then likely, the motherboard is a crappy one. Try MSI or
Gigabyte.

I had the same problem. I resolved it by installing a updated driver for
Intel(R) 82801BA Ultra ATA Controller .
