ATA66/100 not booting

Guys,

I have a P4-2.2 512mb XP Pro laptop.

I was running fine, until XP hung one day, i rebooted and could not get it
going, so (knowing that my bios battery was dygin, decided to reset the
default bios info) after resetting bios defsaults, it booted up fine.
However it happened again the other night, and since the I cannot boot into
XP using ata66/100 mode, I have to use either PIO, or standard.....UDMA 33
dont work either.

How can i sort this.

Regards

Wiggz

Here's a strange troubleshooting tip but maybe it'll work for you too.

I have ATA133 (Maxtor UltraATA/133 7200RPM, 80GB, 8MB).

My Windows XP was running fine also until one day it hung. When I reset the
hard drive made some strange noise and wouldn't post. I for some reason
decided to put the hard drive in the case upside down. Now it works fine.
Whenever I put it back the right way it still makes that strange noise. Try
flipping the hard drive upside down. Who knows, maybe it'll work.
