ATA Flash Disk not getting detected.

Dear all,

I booted XPe with an ATA Flash Disk with ramdisk.sys present in it and
created a remote boot image out of it.

I booted the system from that remote boot image with the ATA Flash
Disk present in the IDE port of the system.

After booting thro' PXE, the system is not detecting the ATA Flash
Disk as a separate drive.

So, I used the Add Hardware Wizard and I found that the name 128MB ATA
Flash Disk in the list of Installed Hardware.

At last for this ATA Flash Disk, I received the following message in
"Completing the Add Hardware Wizard:"
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware. The driver
may be corrupted or missing. (Code 39).
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

I would like to know, how to make, this ATA Flash Disk get detected as
a separate Drive when booting thro' PXE.

Please help me regarding this.

Hi,

This is known issue with ramdisk that mount itself on C: and hides
underlying HDD.

1. Before shutting down your device for last time (before creating SDI file)
delete all registry values from HKLM\System\MountedDevices
2. Also it was suggested to delete SystemPartition key from
HKLM\System\Setup.

Does this help?

Regards,
Slobodan

Dear Slobodan,

Thanks for your help.

I ran XPe from my harddisk. Before creating the RAMDisk image, I
deleted the two registry entries HKLM\System\Setup and
HKLM\System\MountedDevices. Now I created a Remote Boot image out of
it.

I placed that harddisk in my Target system and booted from the Remote
boot image. Now the Harddisk gets detected as a D:\ Drive. Now i am
able to format it.

The problem occurs when I place my ATA Flash Disk in the IDE Slot
instead of my Harddisk.

This ATA Flash Disk is not getting detected.

What is the reason behind this?

Please help me.

With Regards,
Ranga.
