Asus P4C800-E Dlx & Radeon 9600XT

The P4C800-E Dlx has a tab over part of the AGP Pro slot, to be removed when
using AGP Pro cards. From the specs, I can't determine if the Radeon 9600XT
is AGP Pro or not. Is it? What makes a card AGP Pro, is it a certain AGP
multiplier speed?

Thanks,

According to this spec, AGP Pro has (10) 3.3V and (6) GND pins in
the added set of pins near the front of the AGP slot. Normal
cards don't extend into that area. So, it is intended for any
video card that is power hungry for extra +3.3V power.

Going here is necessary, as Intel has removed AGP documentation
from their web site. See page 12 of this AGP Pro spec for the
various connector styles.

Desktop ATI product info:

None of the ATI cards mention AGP Pro connectors, so I'm
assuming they have the "ordinary" connector.

Video cards with AGP Pro on them, might be workstation products,
like this one. Any card with lots of chips stuffed on it is
a candidate.

Desktop cards have solved the power problem, by using "aux"
power connectors, such as disk drive connectors, or a new
connector for PCI Express aux power. They then use switch
mode power conversion, to create any voltages they need.

My ATi 9800 Pro (actually an XT) Isn't an AGP pro card. I'm pretty sure the
9600xt isn't either.

Alex.
