Asus A8V Drive Controllers

Asus A8V. 2 weeks ago Windows locked up and upon reboot it couldn't find any
hard drives. I purchased a Promise SATA II 300 PCI Drive Controller and
installed it. When attempting to boot it says it cannot find the Promise
Controller BIOS. I'm stumped. What should I try next?

A new mainboard? Might also be a problem with the PSU, the RAM
and the CPU. Hiwever my bet would be a chipset damaged by
heat to the degree that its internal bus (and hence
the PSI bus) has become unreliable. That would mean you need
a new mainboard. If you can you should test with a different PSU
before that.
