Any one own the above motherboard and use the nVidia nForce 2 for their
sound hear a strange noise from their audio when the sound device is idle?
It sounds like a fax/56k analogue signal on a phone line but doesn't 'jump'
as much. Sounds like "Eeeeeeeee......eeeeeee....eeeeeeeeeeeeee...."

Is this a bug or is it the hardware?

Thanks!

There are lots of reports of problems with the sound... it depends when it
occurs really. Is it background noise (very low volume) or is it at full
volume? Does it happen when you move your mouse, or all the time? Are you
using analogue or digital output?

My board has excellent sound, I have no complaints at all.

Try muting unused analogue inputs, and if you're not using DAE on your CD
drives, you should... try muting them as well and see if that makes a
difference. Might be worth muting everything except the master volume and
see if it goes away... if it does, enable them one by one to pinpoint the
problem.

Ben

I use only analogue sound and digital output is disabled.

It is indeed a background sound at low volume...but high pitched enough to
just hear it at normal volume. Moving mouse or keyboard does not stop the
sound only when I use the sound device...playing music, system sounds etc.
then it stops temporary (but would continue after a while). Sound is
excellent no complaints at all. I'll try muting various sources and see if I
could pin point the source affecting it...I'll post my results up in a few
days time.

Thanks for the help!!! :)
