Strange problem this. It will write to cdrw and read original cd discs

However put in dvd-rw or dvd-r blank and it just freezes the whole system,

need to do a hard reset to reboot and the does not see the dvd rewriter on
rebooting.

Any help appreciated

What burning software?

What OS?

What firmware version?

What drivers you using?

If you're using the nVidia SW IDE drivers from 4.24, try reinstalling the
4.24 without SW, if using any other version, try the 4.24 SW IDE drivers.
