Assigning the Creator Owner permission

I cannot grant Creator Owner any NTFS permissions on a new
Windows 2000 Server that I have just set up. When I add
Creator Owner and click on Apply, all of the Allow
permissions boxes are cleared and Creator Owner gets no
permissions. How can I fix this? Am I the only person
with this problem?

Thanks.

If you look in the advanced permissions you will see that creator owner probably is
listed as full control for subfolders and files only. According to the Windows
Security Resource Kit says this about the creator owner - " Used as a placeholder in
the inheritable ACE. When the ACE is inherited, the system replaces this SID with the
SID of the object's current owner". In other words as I understand it, it just makes
sure that the file owner gets the permissions granted to the creator owner when
folder/files are created. --- Steve
