assign drive letter

XP Home SP-2. Running a 3 PC wired network . I have a Buffalo Linkstation
NAS. Can I assign it a drive letter? It only shows up in Explorer view as
"share on Linkstation", but no drive letter. I currently have up to I: with
Media Card reader. Power Toys with Tweakui is installed if that is any help.
Thanks, Steve T.

My brother has the same NAS and XP assigned the letter (I:) for his setup.
He may be running XP Pro though. That can't make a difference can it? Steve

Might or might not work, but try "map a network drive" to the device
from the tools pulldown. If it works tick the auto reconnect option.
Also, you might get a different outcome to the mapping attempt if you
try to map to the device's top directory or a subdirectory.

The share message resembles a network PC system, and you can address
the drive by (for example) \\Linkstation\, and you should be able to
map it using its network name.

Another possibility is to rename it to something shorter on the
properties/sharing, if it will allow that.

I gave it a try and the Mapping did not work. There is no option to rename
either although I may be able to go back into through the install disk and
do that. Thanks, Steve T.
