Assign Colors to Task Categories

I would like to associate colors with task categories. Many of my tasks
correspond to a meeting & I would like them color coded. Does anyone know if
I can do this &, if so, how? Thanks a lot.

Try using Automatic Formatting. Switch to the table-style view of your Tasks
folder that you want to use, click View | Current View | Define Views, select
the view in the list and click Modify...there is an Automatic Formatting
button on the dialog box. You can assign a font color and style based on the
category (you will need to create one AF rule for each category).

I tried that but it only works selectively. If I change the color, it
doesn't work after that even if I change the color back to the color that
worked. Also, I was hoping to add color to the background of the task rather
than the font color. But???? Would you mind providing me with the rule as
you would write it & I'll try to see why mine works selectively??? Thanks a
lot Jocelyn.
 
No, you can't change the background color of the task selectively. Here is
my automatic formatting rule:

- Add a new rule and give it a descriptive name; click the Font button and
choose your font style, size and color

- Click the Condition button, then the Advanced tab; click the Field
dropdown box and choose All Task fields, then Categories. In the Conditon
box, choose Contains. In the Value box, type in the category name that this
rule will apply to. Click Add to List.

- Click OK three times to exit the customize options. You may see your
changes apply to the view right away; if not, click the Apply View button.
