Assign an action to a group of contacts

Is it possible to assign an activity to a group of contacts (e.g. a list of
contacts in a specific category) by filtering or searching by the category
then inputting details of one activity (e.g. a journal entry) but gets
linked to each contact? Thanks

It could be done with VBA code or by manually picking the contacts after you
create the item.
