ASP.NET on apache?

Greetings

I am a student on a team doing a senior project for/with a local
company. I have yet to meet with our client. However my instructor has
indicated that it will be an ASP.NET project.

I have never used ASP.NET. However I have about 9 months experience
with C# with my internship and have had some experience with ASP. So I
think I can handle that part of it. My question is can I create an
ASP.NET project and run it on an Apache web server? A friend of mine
has an internship with the local company and said that is how they run
the local intranet.

I have heard of project mono for linux OS and client/server apps and
..NET. Is there something similar for ASP.NET? And if so can you give
any advice or legitimate reference sites.

Thanks much for reading this far.

Why bother, either use IIS on your own machine or try one of thr free
asp.net hosting companies.

Save any headaches.
