Hi,
My wife's PC is running XP Home Edition. It was having perfromance problems
so I chose to accept the "You have new updates for your computer" pop-up that
is always presents itself. I beleive I have installed Service Pack 1.1 and 2
but cant be sure. The PC is more than 2 years old and we have not accepted
updates before so there was probbaly quite a lot of update sin there.
After the reboot:
1. I see a new ASP.Net Machine Account user which was not there before.
2. My wife's user name now prompts for a password even though we never set
one up. We have never used a password before. If hit enter with a blank
password I get this message:
"The local policy of this system does not permit you to logon interactively".
And we're stuck. We can't login. If I login in safe mode I have the same
issue with the administrator password, which was also blank. What can I do?
The PC is unusable right now. And I can't even log a call with Microsoft now
as they want my PID which I believe I can only get to if I can get into the
start menu.
Thanks.
