Arrows showing up in table borders in Powerpoint

This has only happened intermittently. When I insert a
table, using powerpoints table slide layout, I will
sometimes get arrows on the lines of the table. I've
tried changing the line formats, etc. but without success.

Any thoughts on what could be causing this?
