arranging in number order1

Hi, thanks those of you that helped with my earlier post.... sorted tha
now!

Can anyone tell me how to arrange a column in descending number order?
its for a points table in a car racing championship.

As an ex SCCA Formula Ford driver I can tell you to
select your column>click on the sort descending icon on your toolbar or
data>sort from the menu toolbar
 
Data>Sort> pick a column and "descending" order and OK
