Are you sure you want to delete "windows"

The icon for my recycle bin is "full". When I click empty
recycle bin. I got the usual do you really want to
delete ... message. However this one states do you really
want to delete windows?

There is nothing listed when I open the bin? Anyone got
any ideas. Pc has been running quite slow at for last few
days. Ran norton with latest updates and nothing found.

If I say yes I get the following message

Is this a multiple boot machine?
I have seen this same message when I was doing béta testing on Windows
Server 2003 (I even have a screen grab saved from this curious pop-up
message ;-).
The idea at that time in the béta forum was that it could be caused by the
recycle bin mechanism being corrupted by emptying it under several
operating systems.
At least, it was not caused by a virus at that time.
The remedy at that time was to reboot the machine. After that the recycle
bin could normally be emptied.
