Has nayone successfully fitted one of these to a Hercules 9700 Pro? Does the
cooler get in the way of the ramsinks? Also does the Herc card have a shim
round the VPU?

Thanks

I have the Hercules 9800 Pro, to which I fitted a Zalman ZM80C-HP. I guess
the design of the 9700 Pro is the same as the 9800 Pro.

My VPU did have a shim, but it was flush with the VPU so you should be able
to get a good contact with the Arctic cooler.

If the RAM sinks are a problem with the Arctic cooler, as they were with my
Zalman, you can remove them fairly easily. Just get a piece of paper, and
slide it between the bottom edge of the sink and RAM in the corners and
you'll find an area where there is no thermal epoxy. Then get a razor blade
(I used a craft knife) and lever the sinks off. Be warned, this is a bit of
an arse twitcher, especially on a £250 card. I was able to leave the RAM
sinks alone on the bottom side of the card.

Ted.
