Archive file

I made an archive file, copied it to an external drive for safekeeping and
then re-installed my operating system including MS Office. When I try to open
the archive file an error message tells me it is not a personal files folder.
The file is archive.pst. Is there any way for me to get this file open?
 
Perhaps its marked as read only?
Or you copied it whist the file was open within Outlook, in which case you
corrupted it
