Approach to Access

I have a client that has a db in Lotus Approach 9.5 but wants to convert to
Access 2003. The existing db has a number of forms, etc that would be a pain
to recreate.

Is anyone aware of a conversion utility or method that would save a redesign
from scratch?

P.S. I'm cross-posting this because I'm not sure which is the most
appropriate ng.

You can import the data, generally speaking, but not the Forms, reports, etc. You'll have to recreate them from scratch.
Do a google search on "convert lotus ms access", review the Groups results to see what others have said about this.

Thanks Scott,

This is what I figured (damn!). I've already done a 'google' with naff-all
success, but hoped someone on the ng's could save me a lot of time & effort.

I did the same thing some time ago. The data is no problem but design
needs to be done manually. Consider it a good time to clean things up.

dude Access MDB is dead and it has been for a decade

Lotus has a much better future

of course, if you had some real balls you would use Access Data
Projects

that is the new sweet spot; and it has been for a decade

MDB has been obsolete for a decade, I have the links from MS to prove
this

Jet and DAO haven't been included with Office, Windows or MDAC for a
decade.

If I were you, I would put a lot of time into learning SQL Server --
you don't need to be subjected to a re-write when MS kills Access

and believe me-- MS will kill Access MDB soon; it will not be included
in the next version of office for sure
