Appreciate advice on some chart issues.

(1) When we insert a chart, the system shows the default of some 3-D
columns. Why is this chart type not included in the list of chart types via
the chart type button? If I have changed the default to other chart types,
say pie, bar, etc., how do I change back to the default?

(2) The tabs under selected data series are always different. This is
dependent on the chart type. Am I correct? Please confirm.

(3) With the default chart type, under selected data **series**, there is a
tab named "shape." However, under selected data **point**, there is no
"shape" tab. I assume I can only change shape for the entire series, right?

(4) In the chart object list, some items won't show after they are selected
and deleted; e.g. legend, series, axes, grid lines ...... I know I can click
on "data," "chart>chart options" etc. to include the items in the chart
again. But is there a better way, say, one button to reset the chart object
list?

Appreciate guidance.

I can answer (1) myself now. Looks like one alternative is to go to chart,
chart type, chart subtype etc. No luck with the chart type button.

Please help with the rest.

Thanks.

Hi,

(2) Yes different tabs for different chart types. eg. No Axis tab on 3d
charts. No Shape tab on 2d charts. Error Bars tab is available on some
chart types.

(3) You can not set the shape of an individual point, so the tab is not
relevant.

(4) Some of the items such as Gridlines, Legend, Chart type have buttons
on the toolbar. Series can be included/excluded by double clicking
row/columns in the datasheet.

Sorry, I still need help with (1). I can't always get exactly the same
original 3-D effect. It all depends on what chart type I change to from the
default. For example, if I change the default to custom types, cones, then I
can't change it back to the default via standard types, column, clustered
column with a 3-D visual effect. Custom type, user define, default is not
helpful either. Wonder if there is one button that can bring me back to the
very original default that is triggered when we insert a chart.

To get back to original 3d clustered columns from Custom Cone chart you
will need to,

right click chart area and pick 3d-View. Press the Default button.
The format Walls. Add back Z axis. Format data series to have a Series
Options > GapWidth = 150.

And I don't think there is a one button fix :(

Sorry Andy, I had trouble following the instructions. Anyway, I realized
that I missed one step previously i.e. checked the default formatting check
box.

The following is how I can bring back the default while in cone.

Chart>chart type>standard types>column>clustered column with a 3-D visual
effect. Then under options (left bottom of screen) check default formatting.

Thank you.

So there is a one button fix :)
I didn't notice the Default Formatting button.
