I need to transfer some applications (program folders, registry values,
related dll's, etc.) from a XP Pro notebook to a new notebook (also XP Pro).
Is there a way or a program to do it?
Thanks.

Just use your CDs to install the applications on the new notebook. You
do have the CDs right?

Yes, I do have, but I don't want to transfer XP programs. I need to change
my notebook : because I have a lot of programs on the old notebook, it will
be very long to re-install all the programs. This is just the reason I'm
looking for an utility or a way to do it more easily.

There has never been a method of transferring Windows aplications from one
Windows PC to another. Windows application installer install files in the
registry, Windows folder and System32 folders. One way of by-passing this
is to have a Windows installer monitoring program installed before you
install the application, such as Norton CleanSweep. This will take a
"snapshot" of all the Windows system changes, as well as the files that were
installed. It must be installed before installing any appplication.

If you do not have CleanSweep, one other possibility was to "ghost" the old
hard drive to the new hard drive and then do a XP repair install. However,
this is a laptop which came with XP pre-installed and comes with a Recovery
CD (??) only.

You are out of luck.

This contributions-supported-ware may be all you are looking for:

DrvClonerXP (by Nick MacCamy)
http://www.softpedia.com/public/cat/13/2/13-2-43.shtml or
http://www.sofotex.com/DrvClonerXP-download_L7530.html
Runs on .NET Framework (from Windows Update site)

I use the sister programme for computers with single hard drives,
DrvImageXP.
Note: I have some difficulty in getting through with these two links just
now. Maybe just too heavy traffic. Don't want to wait any longer and post
this now, but if you get the same, look it up in Google for alternative
sites.
