Application not working - how to find a missing component?

Hello,

We are using Siemens Simatic NET on XPe, but one services doesn´t run after
installation. So the whole Simatic NET package is unusable. Simatic NET is
working on a XP Prof machine of course. But on XPe it seems there is a
component missing.

Tools like Dependency Walker and File/RegMon are not very easy to use for
this project because Simatic NET package has a size of 400MB and goes deep
into windows system.

The easiest way to find out should be trial and error. At first I would need
a FULL SIZE XPe which is 100% equal to XP Prof. This could be a starting
point for further trial and error tests.

Which (macro-) components should I add to build a full size XPe which is 99%
equal to XP prof?

I have built a XPe image with the macro components
- Windows Application Compatibility
- TCPIP Networking
- Shell Application Compatibility
- Networking Application Compatibility

But this is not enough ...

There's an XPPro emulation tool on XPefiles.com that should let you
basically add every software component in the list - though if you don't
have a lot of memory I would advise adding them a few at a time, as
sometimes it's not possible to save if you don't have bucketloads of
memory. There used to be an .slx up there from me into which I'd added
every single component by hand, which was easier for those with little
ram, but I don't have so much time on my hands now. :)
Just a random suggestion which has popped into my head - do you have the
null device driver in the build?
