Application launches in Safe Mode but not in Normal Mode

Small business has three Dell 4550 networked on Windows XP Home with 384 MB Ram. Filemaker Pro 4.1 ran on them for six months or more without incident. Now one of the machines reuses to launch it in Normal Mode but will launch it in Safe Mode. Checked for Viruses and Spyware and removed some syware but no viruses. Updates are current and DSL access to internet works fine and all other applications run as well. My head is sore from beating it on this stone wall. Any help would be (sorely) (no pun intended) appreciated
