I have users at two sites which are plagued with Event 1002 Category (101).
All these users ran their programs fine on their 9x or 2000 machines before
upgrading to XP Professional machines. I've been looking at various places
on the web but there doesn't seem to be any definite answer. Is this a 'bug'
with XP or something?

I looked up this error at http://www.eventid.net This is a website that
collects data reported by users about various error messages. The people
that submit the information will often include comments. I find the site
useful for tracking down "hints" on errors that are not widely documented.

This particular error had an entry that also mentioned "category 101."
Their recommendation (which I have not tried or tested) is below:
