I use Outlook 2002 in Office XP Professional. Does anyone know why when I
type a word with an apostrophe like "didn't" the apostrophe turns into a
square box when the message is sent? This just recently started happening.
I use Word as my e-mail editor. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have this problem on all (3) computers in my network and have daily virus
scans performed on all computers.
Thank you.

it's your font encoding. What is it set for in tools, options, mail format,
international.

Im having the same issue, along with occasionally some Symbols show up as
the blank square.

What *should* the settings in MAIL FORMAT>INTERNATIONL be in order to insure
that the characters, particularly the ever-useful apostrophe, shows up?

thanks

for most people, western European (iso). It will vary for some people who
use languages other than English... but should never have user defined.

my settings are western european (iso) and i'm still having those problems.
one other poster mentioned that it had to do with spamfighter. he had
notified that company and had disconnected the service until they have it
fixed. i'm not sure that is the answer either - but the squares are driving
me crazy!

I, too am having this problem and I don't have any Spam filters. I'm set to ISO (Western Euro) and use Word to edit email messages. That's the common link I'm seeing (Word as email editor) but I'm not seeing any answers. Someone out there must know!!
