Matt

Whenever I try to run a setup.exe program I am shown the
following message:

Setup.exe - Application Error
The application failed to initialize properly
(0xc0000005). Click on OK to terminate the application.

I thought it may be a virus and tried to install Norton
AntiVirus, except that gave the same error message when I
tried to install the program. I can't even reinstall
Windows XP becaue the setup.exe program won't run.

In addition, and I don't know if this is important or
not, a series of other errors or anomolies have been
occuring to my computer:

My Internet Explorer 6 chosen home page was recently
changed to www.search-space.com without my involvement
and I am now unable to change it back. I have altered all
the references to it in the registry but upon restarting
the computer the pronlem returns.
In Internet Explorer 6 I am now unable to right-click the
mouse button and choose "open in new window" for a link.
The system appears to hang for about 30 seconds then
appears to refresh itself but no new window opens.

Hi Matt,

Clean up the spyware, then see if the installer runs.

1) Install and run Adaware from www.lavasoft.de

2) Install and run Spyware Blaster from
http://www.javacoolsoftware.com/spywareblaster.html

3) Turn on the native firewall or install a third-party one (a third party
firewall will notify you of outgoing traffic as spyware programs "phone
home", the native one won't).
