AOL advised us that its cable service will not work with
our Windows XP system because we have too much memory load
(greater than 80%) at startup. How can we reduce the
number of proceeses automatically running? If we can
reduce it below 70% the cable access should work.

To reduce the number of startup process' goto Start>>Run>>Type "msconfig"
and goto the Startup tab. AOL should advise you more on exactly what they
mean. Disabling programs should not have to be done in order to get cable.
