AOL starts everytime I start a program

I have a gateway PC that has windows 2000 professional on
it. Everytime I double-click My Computer, My Documents,
MS Word, Excel, whatever, America Online Starts Up.
Please help, I have browsed and searched for help and
haven't been able to find anything

Thanks in advance for someone figuring this out.
 
uninstall AOL
reboot
Try clicking on stuff and see what happens.

if ok reinstall AOL

try clicking on stuff and see what happens.
