AOL Popunders

A while ago I complained about AOL putting a popunder on my screen after
using 'The Daily Draw'. Following advice from this forum, I went to aumha,
which directed me to a script for the imposition of popunders. It is at the
following URL.

Is there any way to stop this intrusion, now we know what kind of script is
used? As far as I am concerned, it is just another annoying form of spam.

It's part of your agreement with AOL. Dont like it? Get rid of AOL.

Why does everyone assume I have something to do with AOL? I have not now,
nor have I ever had any dealings with AOL of any kind whatsoever, and if I
had my way, they would be barred from the web entirely. So, now that we
know I don't have and never have had any agreement with AOL, is there any
way to stop them propagating popunders to people who do not have any
dealings with them?

Thanks Plato. I have installed the Panicware free popup stopper (for the
second time - the last time was some years ago) and it does seem to stop the
AOL intrusion. However, I can't find a way to set it to allow selected
popups such as update notifications, so I am concerned that if I am not at
the machine when the popup occurs, it will be blocked and I won't know.
I've also written yet again to The Daily Draw, whom I suspect of forcing
this AOL thing, but they are ignoring me. I have been in touch with Google,
who have not so far been able to block the AOL, but I am working on them!

You have it right. AOL is actually not forcing those pop unders on
you. They are however paying those sites to put up those pop unders.
So the actual person/site forcing the pop unders is the site you are
visiting. If that site does not want AOL's money then they may stop
them if enough people complain.

Ok. So all UK readers please write to The Daily Draw asking them to cease
and desist forthwith or sooner.
