Is there any way to have outlook play alarm for reminders when outlook
isn't running and you're say browsing the net? I have google desktop
which I've heard can display reminders from google calendar, any way
it can be utilized with outlook?

Well, no, an application won't do something if it isn't running. Even
Google's reminders require something be running (ie, Google Desktop).

What version of Outlook? Both 2003 and 2007 allow you to hide Outlook when
minimized, but it will still need to be running.

No and no. Outlook must be open to function. There are add-ins that will keep a stub of Outlook open so you can get reminders and new mail notifications - google for reminder programs for Outlook.

Try www.plaxo.com, which synchronizes all Your Outlook contacts,
notes, tasks and calendar-entries online. It also synchronizes with
Google Calendar.
A spinoff is, that You can use Plaxo for synchronizing Outlook-data
between two (or more) computers.

Note that Plaxo often causes problems of its own, such as opening a new mail
but having the window open in the background instead of the foreground.

well not necessarily. Services can be used. Mindmanager pro notifies
you of topic alerts even if it's not running because
"MmReminderService" is always in the background.

Uhhhhh. And how does that negate what I said?

No application won't do something if it isn't running.

Will MmReminderService do something if it isn't running?

yea but the application mindmanager itself isn't running, it's just
using its little minion to do the reminder work. So that application
(mindmanager) is able to get something done even though it's not
running.
So thats how i am negating an absolute statement that you're making.
Not a matter of life and death though--no need to take it so
personally.
