Anyone here staying with 3.4 and not upgrading?

This is my first time ever not doing a driver upgrade when new drivers are
out. I have the 3.4 drivers with a 9800 pro and everything works fine. I
looked over what the driver update did and to me it doesn't seem like
upgrading for. I think I am going to stick with the 3.4's for now. I never
thought I would not upgrade to a new driver revision. Ah well first time
for everything. Anyone else with me?

the version 'white paper' had nothing in them about the little problems I
have with my cards, staying with 3.4's

The official word on ATI's website is that they don't recommend unnecessary
driver updates if your graphics card is functioning properly. Seems like
sound advice, especially since they've great about coming out with new
drivers on a regular basis. I had no trouble with the 3.4's, but I always
feel more at ease in my mind if I'm running the latest official set and I
therefore find myself running the 3.5's now. They seem excellent here in
the testing I've done, but then again, the 3.4's were solid as well for me.
For what it's worth, when I was running the Catalyst 3.1 drivers three
months ago, I skipped on the 3.2's and waited until the 3.4's came out.

The thing I like about ATI is that they list all of the bug fixes on their
website when new drivers are posted. If you aren't running any of the
software mentioned, then updating drivers is probably not a big deal. I
find that each new driver update generally eeks out a bit more performance,
but not enough to lose any sleep over.

If it aint broke, don't fix it. Stay with 3.4 until you start having
problems with new games (or other software). Then it's time to upgrade.
That's my plan, anyway.

Mike.

The latest drivers killed FSAA on my system.

The only reason I've not upgraded is that I've discovered the Omega
drivers and they have only been tweaked for the 3.4's so far. Until
the Omega dude updates his tweaks for the 3.5 I'm sticking with the
optimized 3.4's by Omega.

Omega 3.5 is out.
I'm hoping the Nvidia crybabies don't shut down this guys site so he
can continue to support the ATI side of it.

They can't do sh*t.

Considering I only upgraded from the 3.2's to the 3.4's the day before the
3.5's came out, no, I think I'll skip this one :). (I didn't know the
3.5's were coming out when they did.)

Ian have you tried the Omega's yet?.. I must say.. they sure made a
difference in my rig. Make sure you read the FAQ and readme so you
install them correctly. Add/Remove the control panel applet and then
over write the main drivers with his version. Make sure you get
correct version.. 3.4 or 3.2 and XP vs win98 etc..

No. Don't plan to, either. I no longer feel the need to do things like
overclocking, tweaking the hell out of driver settings, messing around with
hacked third-party drivers, or even updating working device drivers very
often. Once I get something working, I tend more often to leave it alone
lest I screw it up.
