anyone else having trouble renewing EZ-AV?

I am running EZ-AV (have been for years since the old freeware version) and
have been running 7.0.5.3 [was the latest]. Started to get the incessant
NAGGING about my license about to expire - enough already - so I renewed
online and even swallowed the new price of US$19.95 compared to the old
price of $9.95 (which I gather was a time-limited special for old customers
from the freeware version)...

Anyway, now if I check on their website (a brutally stupidly twisted
maze-like website I might add) IT says my subscription runs till sometime
2006.... seems ok until I try to download signatures and it still nags...

Try manually having it sync my license and it throws a hissy fit about "at
least one product failed to update"... what a PITA.

anyone else encountered (or more importantly), FIXED this??

I've logged a support request, but I am impatient....and my spleen was full.

FWIW, exactly the same is happening here. No reply yet from support

I got the same screen. I closed it and a pop up said "wait a minute, here's
an additional 20% off!" So I went for it and it renewed perfectly. The
serial number it says is now on the CA server. Synced up and that was that,
easy as pie. Note, I only have EZAV and nothing else.

My experience was totally opposite but again, I only have EZAV.

How about uninstalling and reinstalling and manually putting in the serial
number that way?

I tried reinstalling the original v7.0.5.3 and have now installed the
latest v7.0.6.7. Unfortunately you are no longer given the option of
entering the serial number manually.

The new serial number is now the same as the previous year, but the
program now "calls home" on every update, I assume to verify the
registration. The problem is that their server does not seem to be
working correctly and is not seeing the latest update even though it is
showing correctly on their hopelessly convoluted website.

I have emailed them twice without reply. I also complained that the
$19.95 update charge turns out to be (on my credit card statement)
$19.95 + 17.5% tax. I assume this is British VAT, but no mention was
made of this before purchase.

I see that I'm not alone in having this problem - there are numerous
complaints in various newsgroups and in their own forum. I'm not at all
happy with them and am in the process of checking out alternative
solutions.

OK - got that off my chest! :)

I have a customer whose software assures him that his subscription
is good until 2019. We'll see! :-D

final straw for me so i tried avg free and it immediately found 17 virii
sitting on my hard drive that etrust never noticed even after repeated
complete scanning. Seems like a poor result to me.

AvgFree is the go!

Heh. The final straw for me, after autodownload quit working for the
second time in a year and their support people couldn't suggest
anything better than manual update, was hijacking my browser to their
renewal page every time I would get on-line.

I went with Avast! btw.

Finally got this sorted out - after a lot of back and forth (ethereal traces
etc) ... seems to have been a problem with their server end (duh).
